About the Role
Construa is seeking an experienced and highly operational Distribution Manager to lead and optimize the company’s national distribution and warehousing operations.
The Distribution Manager will oversee all company distribution centres, specifically:
- Maputo DC
- Dondo DC
- Nacala DC
The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the operational flow of stock from the point of receiving into the distribution centres through storage, transfers, picking, dispatch, transportation, and final delivery to stores, sites, factories, or other destinations.
This role requires a strong operational leader capable of improving warehouse structure, inventory flow, fulfilment rates, logistics coordination, and overall distribution efficiency across the organization.
The role also requires strong project execution capabilities, particularly relating to warehouse restructuring, warehouse design, operational optimization, budgeting, and recommending appropriate warehouse equipment and infrastructure improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the company’s distribution, warehousing, and logistics strategy
- Oversee and manage all distribution centre operations from receiving through to final delivery
- Ensure warehouses operate according to high operational and organizational standards
- Improve warehouse layout, stock flow, storage utilization, and operational efficiency
- Ensure outbound orders are fulfilled accurately and delivered on time
- Improve fulfilment rates and operational service levels
- Manage inter-branch and inter-DC transfer operations
- Supervise and manage the Transfers Team responsible for supplying stores and recipients based on operational demand
- Reduce aging and stagnant stock through redistribution initiatives, campaigns, and operational stock movement programs
- Assist in planning and restructuring warehouse operations and layouts
- Lead warehouse-related projects including:
- Warehouse restructuring
- Warehouse design
- Equipment planning
- Operational budgeting
- Process optimization
- Coordinate closely with the fleet department to improve transport efficiency and delivery performance
- Implement KPIs, SOPs, operational controls, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with company standards, operational procedures, and relevant regulations
- Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Lead, mentor, and develop warehouse, logistics, and distribution teams
- Collaborate closely with finance, retail, manufacturing, procurement, fleet, and operations departments
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management or Business Administration or Operations Management or a related field
- MBA or postgraduate qualification is advantageous
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in:
- Distribution
- Warehousing
- Logistics
- Supply chain
- Operational management
- Proven leadership experience managing large operational teams
- Experience managing multiple warehouses or distribution centres is highly advantageous
- Strong understanding of:
- Warehouse operations
- Inventory flow
- Logistics coordination
- Operational planning
- Distribution systems
- Experience in warehouse restructuring or operational improvement projects is advantageous
- Experience with ERP and warehouse management systems
- Strong Excel and analytical skills
- Experience in import/export processes is advantageous
- Fluency in English and Portuguese
