The Occupational Safety Specialist is responsible for GSO Temane/CPF Risk Management, including the preparation and update of KUE,s bowties, KUE & LSR 1st and 2nd Level verifications plans and programs, CC performance criteria development and update, SHE audits preparation and facilitation. The position implements and monitors requirements, standards and procedures that address risks to ensure safety excellence, including PTRA monitoring, BBS implementation and reporting and engagement with KUE owners and CC owners. This position will be based in Temane and it will coordinate GSO’s Temane Risk Management in alignment with projects and other internal and external stakeholders, overseeing the successful execution of the necessary risk management and hazard assessment activities, action plans deriving from assurance activities, such as, SHE audits, inspections, assessments and verifications.

 

Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities / Required Outputs: Functional

  • Coordinate Risk Management activities at Well Delivery.
  • Ensure KUE and respective Critical Controls are assigned to relevant leaders, managers and supervisors.
  • Develop and update KUE bowties and respective performance criteria.
  • Develop and maintain Combined Assurance Plan.
  • Facilitate/participate in the review and update of GSO Operations Risk Profile, ensuring KUE & CC owners are duly trained and aware of their duties.
  • Monitor close-out of findings and recommendations deriving from audits and site inspections.
  • Organize and update Combined Assurance Plans.
  • Provide general Risk management training to all employees, contractors and Service Providers.
  • Participate in SHE review meetings, workshops and risk assessment / studies.
  • Keep Operations informed on Group and Industry incident learnings.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders on Risk Management related matters.
  • Participate in and/or facilitate incident investigation processes.

 

Formal Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Civil) with a strong technical background.

 

Min Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Occupational Safety in industrial operations, with at least 3 years risk management experience.
  • Strong knowledge in all the following areas and proficient in at least 3: occupational safety management, management systems, hazard identification & risk management, incident investigation, emergency response management, occupational safety auditing.
  • Working knowledge and or proficiency in the application of the relevant legislation and industry recommended best practices related to occupational safety management (e.g. OHS Act, OSHA, ISO, HAZMAT).
