Market Linkages and Business Development Expert

Location:

Based (Residence) in Beira – Sofala with regular missions to all Zambeze Valley areas with potential to supply marketable local goods with particular focus on sugar beans and vegetables. Significant presence is expected in hub offices in Nhamtanda, Catandica (Barue) and Moatize (Tete)

Requirements:

i.          Diploma degree in fields related to agribusiness

ii.          Relevant actual experience in the local agribusiness context,

iii.          Established relationships with regionally based supply chain actors

iv.          Knowledge of the particular context of the project area (Manica, Sofala, Tete and Zambézia)

v.          Practical experiences in establishing supply groups and in drafting bankable agribusiness plans from farmer to agribusiness company level are fundamental for the position.

vi.          Practical experience in dealing with export markets.

vii.          Training skills for providing market and business development related trainings to farmers and Hub staff.

viii.          Planning and reporting skills are essential, including writing technical reports.

ix.          Driving skills and license for trucks and 125cc (or more) bikes.

x.          Availability to star work in March 1, 2022

Key Tasks:

i.          Identification and matching markets for existing products and products for existing markets and implement the process to ensure penetration of local products into the markets (both local and export markets).

ii.          Define requirements and resources for implementation of aggregation processes in relevant supply areas and perform actual aggregation processes.

iii.          Train farmers on product specifications.

iv.          Mobilize and engage farmers to produce crops with high potential to access existing markets, including contractual arrangements for market access.

v.          Provide regular training to the Small Commercial Farmers and Organized groups of Smallholder Farmers in subjects related to market standards and requirements.

vi.          Implement a step-by-step process of coaching the farmers in adhering to market standards,

vii.          Facilitate farmers to access resources for their farming activities, including inputs, equipment and financial resources.

viii.          Facilitate farmers to access market opportunities.

ix.          Lead the team at district level by ensuring daily planning and coordination of activities.
