ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Designer to join our team at our aluminum smelting facility. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in mechanical drafting, particularly in the context of heavy industrial environments. You will play a critical role in designing and drafting mechanical systems and components, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.

Leadership

- Ensure all work is well designed and guaranteed to deliver safe outcomes.
- Be aware of risks associated with engineering governance and asset management and manage accordingly.
- Build and maintain working relationships with key stakeholders, i.e., Operations, Engineers and Maintainers.
Mechanical Design & Engineering:
- Design and Drafting: Perform design calculations (Finite element analysis), create detailed mechanical designs and 2D/3D drawings for equipment and systems related to the aluminium smelting process.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure designs meet operational needs.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for design projects, including specifications, manuals, and assembly instructions.
- Review and Revision: Review existing designs and provide recommendations for improvements. Revise drawings based on feedback and project changes.
- Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior drafters and other team members, promoting best practices in design and drafting.
- Software Proficiency: Utilize CAD software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) effectively to produce high-quality drawings and models.Page 3 of 3
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Associate’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in mechanical drafting, preferably in the Aluminium smelting or heavy industrial sector.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in CAD software; experience with 3D modelling and simulation tools is a plus.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and fabrication processes relevant to aluminium smelting.
- Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate and high-quality work.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
