Purpose of Job
To manage and provide a comprehensive accounting service to which facilitates the decision making process related to business direction and participate in the day to day supervision of/and the execution of financial and management accounting related activities. The role will also provide a continuous input into financial and business decision-making at a tactical operational level and is expected to co-ordinate and provides the full financial management services for upstream ventures and deliver all Asset Accounting services and support to the Asset Manager where necessary. The role is also responsible to lead the Plant accountants being a Senior Management Accountant and a Fixed Asset Accountant on site.
Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities
Manage and lead allocated team across processes of financial accounting and management accounting to achieve set targets and defined deliverables; Establish an environment and team with sufficient accounting knowledge and close involvement with business activities in order to identify business issues and establish the impact on management and financial reporting; Manage the requirements of the Plant Operations from a financial perspective and ensure compliance with all obligations contained in Joint Operating Agreements and license agreements to external and internal stakeholders for Joint Venture, Financial and Management reporting purposes; Evaluate the Plant Operations performance through Plant Performance reports; Manage the forecast and budget process including the risk analysis; Sound financial management of annual work program and budget supporting the Plant Operation Management; Represent business at joint venture committees (Operating / Management / Finance committees) where required remotely and in-country; Provide a comprehensive asset accounting service to the relevant Asset Management; Create and maintain effective relations between the joint venture accounting team and relevant stakeholders, including relevant joint venture partners, various government agencies, tax authorities, asset managers, EXCO, Group Tax Services etc.; Establish and maintain effective relationships and communication systems with all stakeholders as well as prompt feedback to customers; Ensure sound accounting policies and practices are applied consistently across the function as well as in compliance with the Sasol Group accounting manual, IFRS, local country reporting requirements, SEC regulations and accounting practices & policies for the upstream business specifically; Compliance – Perform internal and SOX controls and quarterly SOX testing.
