Job Title: Information Systems Supervisor
Reports To: Operations Manager

Location: Nacala, Mozambique
iDE is a global development organization that advances market-based approaches in agriculture; access to finance; and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) to create income and livelihood opportunities for economically and socially disadvantaged households. With offices in 12 countries around the world iDE began operations in Mozambique in January 2010 with the goal of improving the income and livelihood opportunities of the rural poor and uses an integrated, value-chain development approach to implement agricultural development initiatives that increase productivity and income for smallholder farmers.
ABOUT:
iDE is recruiting an Information Systems Manager for an anticipated USAID-funded activity in northern Mozambique focused on improving resilience and healthy ecosystems in coastal regions south of Pemba and north of Maganja da Costa. Particular areas of focus include: (1) Conserve coastal and marine ecosystems and important fish habitats to support improved climate resilience, fisheries management, food security, sustainable livelihoods, and the conservation of high biodiversity areas, (2) Expand diversified, equitable economic growth in the face of climate change to create real, significant employment and livelihood opportunities particularly for
youth and women, to benefit the entire community, (3) Support youth as leaders and change agents, to collaborate with government, civil society, and the private sector to sustainably manage natural resources and more equitably adapt, mitigate, and respond to shocks and stresses.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide support to the operations of the Nacala, Angoche & Pebane Offices;
- Perform network administration and connection activities, support to users and desktops, support and creation of databases and maintenance of IT specific documentation.
- Network administration and connectivity;
- Network administration (configuration and optimization of networks based on existing Linux and Windows servers, adding new users to the domain, improving security);
- Maintenance, optimization and configuration of switch, firewall and / or gateway;
- Installation of new email accounts and resolution of email connection issues;
- Identification and resolution of network connection issues (slow connections, lack of connection);
- Antivirus strategy (installation, update, removal);
- Management and Administration of the department.
User and Desktop Support
- Installation and configuration of new software applications;
- Analysis of hardware and software problems, including printer problems;
- Development of VBA macros in Excel and other Office applications;
- Training staff on IT issues (Microsoft Office, Google´s G-Suite etc);
Database Support
- Supporting existing databases, creating questions, reports and forms requested by users;
- Support the data scanners and resolve database issues; and
- Create new databases to support existing operations and departmental requests;
Documentation
- Creating and maintaining IT documents including IT standards, configuration, IT asset inventories and IT procedures;
- Organizing and managing information on a common drive and instructing users on its use;
- Performing all other tasks connected to the position that are incubated; and
- Other tasks as assigned by supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technologies, Information Systems or Computer Science
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT area, at least 1 years as responsible for the area
- Experience in working with SQL server and Web Development is an advantage;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Win2K3 Server and Linux;
- Ability to configure and optimize Windows XP and Windows Vista platforms;
- Experience in Switch, Firewall and Gateway configuration;
- Experience in database design including form design, queries and reports in MS Access;
- Knowledge of VBA Macros in Excel;
- Experience in working with SQL server and Web Development is an advantage;
- Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite and Google’s G-Suite is required; and
- Microsoft Certification.
PHYSICAL & LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Portuguese and English;
- Capacity to work with autonomy and responsibility;
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in remote setting, with required travel to HQ as necessary;
- Ability to work effectively under pressure; and
- Ability to work within a team and multitask.
