As the Country Lead SHEQ at CCBA, you will guide the overall safety, health, environment, and quality agenda for the country, ensuring that all operations meet regulatory requirements and CCBA’s global standards. The role focuses on building a strong safety culture, safeguarding product quality, driving sustainability initiatives, and strengthening risk management across the business. You will support teams through practical guidance, capability building, and continuous improvement.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Country SHEQ Leadership & Strategic Advisory : Serve as the country’s leading expert on QSE, staying ahead of industry trends and ensuring that strategies align with CCBA’s global standards and regulatory requirements;
- QSE Strategy Execution & Compliance : Develop and execute country-level QSE strategy, aligned to regulatory requirements and CCBA standards to drive operational efficiency and business sustainability;
- Regulatory Adherence & Risk Mitigation : Proactive business risk mitigation by ensuring compliance with legal, food safety and environmental regulations
- Safety Culture & Incident Prevention : Drive and embed a safety-first culture through leadership engagement, behavior-based safety programs, and targeted interventions to reduce workplace incidents;
- Quality Assurance & Product Integrity : Implement and maintain world-class food safety and quality systems (ISO 9001, FSSC 22000), ensuring product consistency and consumer trust;
- Environmental Sustainability & Resource Efficiency : Drive water, energy, and waste reduction initiatives in alignment with sustainability goals, ensuring responsible environmental stewardship;
- Crisis & Incident Response Leadership : Lead IMCR processes, ensuring rapid response and resolution of safety, quality, and environmental incidents while implementing preventive measures;
- Capability Development & Training : Strengthen in-country QSE capability by developing and rolling out country fit-for-purpose upskilling initiatives to improve in-country QSE maturity;
- Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement : Establish robust QSE measurement systems, track KPIs and leverage data insights to drive operational improvements and compliance;
- Stakeholder Engagement & Representation : Represent CCBA in industry forums, regulatory councils, and policy discussions, advocating for sustainable QSE policies and best practices;
Skills, Experience & Education
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Environmental Science, or Engineering; MSc or business qualification preferred;
- A Master’s degree or a business qualification is an added advantage;
Experience
- 10–12 years in a manufacturing or production environment, with at least 5–6 years in a QSE leadership role;
- In-depth knowledge of SHEQ regulations, ISO standards (ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, ISO 14001), and risk management frameworks;
- QSE experience in countries at varying degrees of maturity and proven track record of capability building and coaching;
Skills
- Strong influencing skills to engage internal and external stakeholders in driving a QSE culture.
- Experience in building positive relationships with regulatory bodies, industry associations, and government agencies to stay ahead of policy changes and compliance requirements.
- Ability to interpret SHEQ performance data, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to continuously improve processes.
- Expertise in tracking, analyzing, and reporting SHEQ metrics, ensuring effective decision-making at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to identify process inefficiencies, implement best practices, and drive continuous improvement
- Extensive knowledge of food safety laws, product quality standards, and consumer safety regulations to ensure compliance with internal and external guidelines
- Ability to drive a safety-first culture, ensuring proactive risk assessments, hazard identification, and the reduction of workplace incidents
- Expertise in Incident Management & Crisis Resolution (IMCR) processes, with the ability to swiftly respond to and mitigate SHEQ-related crises
- Ability to interpret and apply local and international regulatory requirements, ensuring full compliance with environmental and safety regulations
- Ability to align country-level QSE initiatives with broader organizational goals, ensuring long-term sustainability and business success.
- Strong leadership skills to coach, mentor, and develop QSE teams, fostering a high-performance culture that prioritizes quality, safety, and environmental excellence
- Strong ability to advocate for SHEQ initiatives at all levels of the organization, influencing leadership teams and employees to adopt safety and quality mindsets.
- Skilled in clear and timely communication during crisis situations, ensuring effective incident management and stakeholder confidence.
- Ability to design and deliver training programs that enhance SHEQ knowledge and compliance across teams
- Cultural Transformation & Change Leadership: Expertise in embedding a culture of safety, quality, and environmental responsibility by leading change management initiatives
